Steps
- Play the original postOpen it in the app or website with the sound on. If it's silent there, the downloaded file will be silent too.
- Check your volumeTurn up the media volume while the video plays, switch off silent mode and disconnect any Bluetooth headphones.
- Try another playerOpen the file in a different app, such as your gallery, Files or VLC.
- Download it again with ClipsavoPaste the link and pick a video quality. Clipsavo saves the picture and the sound together in one MP4.
Why does my downloaded video have no sound?
- The original has no sound: some posts are silent, and GIFs on X (Twitter) are short videos with no audio track.
- The platform muted the music: TikTok, Instagram and Facebook sometimes mute a song on a post over music rights. The file they serve is then silent, and no downloader can bring the sound back.
- Your device is muted: low media volume, silent mode, or Bluetooth headphones that are still connected.
- The file has no audio track: YouTube and other sites store higher qualities as separate video and audio. A tool that saves only the video part gives you a silent file.
- The download stopped early: an incomplete file may not play properly. Download it again.
How to check if the original has sound
Paste the link into Clipsavo. When the original has an audio track, an MP3 option appears below the video qualities. If there's no MP3 option, the post usually has no sound at all. The exception is official music tracks on YouTube, which are never offered as MP3.
Downloaded TikTok video has no sound
Play the post in the TikTok app first. If it's silent there, it was posted without sound or TikTok muted the song on it, and the download will be silent too. If you hear it in the app, copy the link again and download the video once more.
Downloaded YouTube video has no sound
YouTube keeps the picture and the sound of HD videos in separate streams. Clipsavo downloads the best video and the best audio and joins them into one MP4, so every quality you pick comes with sound.
Video has no sound on iPhone or Android
- iPhone: press the volume-up button while the video plays and make sure silent mode is off. If AirPods or another Bluetooth device is connected, the sound goes there.
- Android: raise the media volume, not only the ringtone volume, and disconnect Bluetooth headphones you're not using.
No sound on a computer
Clipsavo prefers H.264 video with AAC audio, a combination almost every player supports. If a file from somewhere else plays without sound, open it in VLC, which plays most audio formats.
Want just the sound?
Choose MP3 instead of a video quality to save only the audio, as a 192 kbps MP3.
