It doesn't matter whether you include https:// or not; the trick works either way with links from supported platforms.
When is this trick useful?
When you're watching a video in your browser on a computer: instead of copying the link, opening another site and pasting it, you type one short prefix before the link and press Enter.

Another way on your phone
On a phone, the address bar usually doesn't show the full link, so it's easier to copy the link from the Share button, then open clipsavo.com and tap Paste. On Android, you can install Clipsavo and share to it directly.
